Goat Man, Mouseman and now………….Cat Man!
Now the cat story.
I had heard a kitten over a few days very near the house but hidden from view in undergrowth. I had also seen a cat which I assumed was the mother who had hidden the kitten to keep it safe and was returning to feed it.
I would hear the kitten every few hours but it did not sound distressed – probably just hungry.
One Sunday evening at about 6pm I heard it again so went outside to see if I could see it. The little thing was at the base of the wood store wall and I think had fallen down the undergrowth from its hiding place. It seemed ok and I left it alone in the hope that the mother would come and take it back to its hiding place and safety as we do get a lot of dogs roaming in the area as well as birds of prey.
I kept watch until 8.30pm. No sign of mum. So I used a log basket, lined with newspaper and a blanket and put the kitten in it. Left the front door open in case I heard the mother calling – she did not.
Kitten was fine and I managed to get some milk down it and it was calm.
As of this moment its asleep in its big basket – I now have two days to find a temporary/permanent home as I am away for a week!!!
I did have the choice of not interfering but my conscience and I would have had arguments.
Success – I have persuaded a Vet to take the kitten and left them with a contribution.
