SHERE
I got to do some Christmas shopping and while there we visited Shere, a small village not far from Guildford.
It is a very quaint village that has retained a lot of character.
Apparently, it appears in the Doomsday Book of 1086 as Essira and Essire.
It has been used in a number of movies as a backdrop for a typical English village.
Films such as Three Weddings and a funeral, the church is seen in the final scenes of Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason and in the Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet movie, The Holiday the pub and village are used in a number of scenes.
For a small village on a Sunday morning it was surprisingly busy. We had breakfast at the Dabbling Duck Tea Rooms, which is so popular they have added a yurt with a welcoming wood burner to gain additional space.
A lovely Village and well worth a visit if you are nearby.
