The Importance of Team Morale
As many of you know, we are a global team, in a constant state of motion, with training & implementation visits booked months in advance, and hundreds of support calls & emails a week.
As a global company with colleagues located in areas such as the UK, U.S.A, Brazil, South Africa and beyond, and Synchro ERP customers on every continent, you can already imagine a solid communication infrastructure is, and HAS, to be in place to make sure we all work from the same page, knowing, and understanding each customers, and team members individual requirements & needs.
With such a busy schedule, and one that by its own nature, can be unpredictable, team morale is an important factor. You’ll not find a David Brent-alike in Synchro, but we do like to keep in good humour throughout a working day… a few years ago, I added a small change to my morning routine… each day, I add everyone currently in office to a Skype chat, and simply wish everyone a good day, give a brief update on events over the last 24 hours, and give thanks to team members for contributions so far in the week.
To round this off, I add a ‘Random Fact of the Day’ to the end of the greeting… this small change, this five minutes of my time, makes a huge impact to everyone each day… the result of simply saying ‘Hello’ to your work colleagues each day, is that as a team, we all feel united, respected, and included.
The only downside to this tiny addition to my morning routine….. I‘m running out of random facts!.. this however, has been picked up by the company MD, Mr Christopher Collins, who very kindly, and often unexpectedly, keeps me in fact utopia by sending me Fact books through the post….
